Wood and Fire - Scout Skills

The Cubs had a great night on Monday practising their fire lighting skills and learning about axe and saw skills.

The cubs had to set and light a fire remembering everything they had been taught at previous meetings. They completed the task well ending with a well-lit fire good enough to cook some marshmallows on.

They then learnt about the safety requirements of using an axe and then had a go at using a saw. They all managed to saw through part of a large log which was quite a task for some.

It will be good to see if the cubs remember everything they have be taught next week when they have to cook on an open fire.
